Why have I done this AGAIN? Building a plastic drawer setup in my DIY canopy fitout
Today we're building a custom diy pantry in the canopy setup to make the most of the empty space between the fridge and the slide out kitchen. This is just going to be a temporary solution as there will be a better slide out pantry coming soon, but should get us by for the meantime!

Good job Daniel. One up grade perhaps would be to use some 4mm Yellow Poly Cable Feeder from Bunnings as draw runners. The draws will slide a lot easier. I found drilling and countersinking holes for small screws the best attachment method.

Well done mate, ur setup is really well thought out. Not for me, but I’m single, and not u!🤣. I really like ur slide out bench setup, and other than the 6mm MDF, (I understand that it’s temporary, and I’m not having a dig, I just hate mdf, as I always manage to get it wet somehow🤷🏿‍♂️),that’s a really neat and cheap pantry setup. You’ve come a long way! 🎉 PS Still figure u were a flight attendant in another life ! Cheers and well played! 👍🍻🎯🇦🇺

Mate, as a chippy when you said 6mm MDF, I was like how the hell are you going to screw into the side of that, you seemed to do it I don't know how you did without splitting it, but good on you they turned out nice, I would have gone for 9mm min or 12mm to get decent screws in there, Also when you cut Aluminium on the drop saw, place an offcut of timber on top of the aluminium right up to the blade and clamp them both down, Aluminium has a tendency to catch on regular drop saw blades, when it does it will rip out of that hold down clamp and a fast moving bit of shrapnel will go wherever it want's, normally back at you so make sure to wear eye protection when cutting it.

Haha yeah I definitely agree, if I was to build it again (or if it was a more permanent solution) I'd us thicker wood and reinforce it with some brackets. Thanks for the tip with the drop saw too! 🙂

Thanks Jack! The roller door is still just 'sitting' shut at the moment, I'm yet to add a latch but am thinking of just adding a simple metal piece to the base that the existing magnetic strip will connect to.

Great vids fella, but thought i would point out that you never set your circular saw blade depth correctly. You only want 5mm max poking out the bottom of the stock you're sawing though. This makes for easier, smoother, cleaner cutting. 🤙

Lookin' mint. I assume the shelf is 'upside down' so those sections stop things from moving around? Yeah, a metal strip at the bottom for the magnets to 'lock' too would be a way to keep it closed and offer a small lip to stop things sliding out freely.

Pre-filters are great idea in some cases but can also help kill your engine if you don't do homework. Example: everyone loves to rag on the ZD30Di in the Patrol and Navara but fail to notice these bloody filters. Every time I see a dead injector pump, I find these types of filters sitting inline. Injector pumps are not designed to pull/suck fuel from the tank let alone through multiple filters, especially if you are that special kind of muppet who puts a 2 micron in. These engines must have a lift pump installed. The VP44 for example is designed to have 1BAR (14PSI) of positive pressure at the pump inlet. CRD engines have a pump designed to boost fuel pressure to stupid levels but again, there are designs that are not designed to suck, do your homework before trusting RUclipsrs and their "ExSpurt" qualifications. This video is a great example, "I do because others have done" without actually knowing or understanding. Research your fuel system and not just from the manufacturue of the car.... Number 1 reason the VP44 in the Nissans die is from having to suck as Nissan ignored the specs for the pumps and chose not to run lift pump.

Yes certainly a great addition to avoid issues 100% agree. I on the other hand went to a secondary finer filter following in line from factory filter. One thing I would recommend to anyone doing this is: Install filter into additional filter housing, connect hoses to all but factory inlet, then prime system allowing excess fuel to run through entire system & drain into a bottle. I did this prior to connecting to factory system. I was totally gobsmacked how much crap came from rubber hoses, filter assembly & obviously the filter, being mine was secondary that shit would have gone directly into my common rail, may have been detrimental. Hence now, every replacement filter gets bled prior to connection into system.
